A Large portrait of Katharine Hepburn is currently available for viewing in the Frank Stevenson Archives.

On Sunday, January 19, 2003 a portrait of Miss Katharine Hepburn was unveiled at the Old Saybrook Historical, Society’s Frank Stevenson Archive Building. The event achieved national recognition by way of NBC’s coverage on the Today Show at 8:54 am from Old Saybrook.

Miss Hepburn, a long time supporter and benefactor, gifted the portrait to the Society. It hangs in the Archive Building, which is open Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 am till 12 noon or by appointment.

The portrait was painted by Myfanwy Pavelic of Sannich, Vancouver Island, Canada. Originally it hung over Miss Hepburn’s fireplace in her New York townhouse. The Society is indebted to Miss Hepburn for her generosity in entrusting the portrait to it for safekeeping. We encourage the town and other visitors to our community to visit the Archive Building and view the dynamic and engaging portrait of Old Saybrook’s beloved Kate.
