An End-Of-School Gift for Teacher that Really Makes the Grade

Looking for a meaningful end-of-school gift for your child’s teacher? Look no further than a gift card that’s personalized to his or her interests. A gift card becomes truly memorable when it’s packaged in a special way.

Adding a three-dimensional element to a gift card — like the apple in the photo — creates the feeling of actually getting something tangible. While a gift card alone may seem impersonal, a specially packaged one conveys a deeply personal and caring message. It’s like receiving a one-of-a-kind gift you’d never want to return.

Here’s an example:

1. Give a teacher who loves to listen to tunes a music gift card.

2. Place the gift card in a sleeve you make from construction paper or card stock.

3. On the front, include an image that represents the gift card.

4. On the back of the sleeve, have the child write a short note about how much they’ve enjoyed the school year — and why.

5. Punch holes around the edges of the sleeve and lace it up with raffia.

6. Using more raffia, attach the gift card to a bright red apple.

7. Now you have a unique and memorable gift for a teacher!

You can make the gift even more substantial by having other parents go in on it with you. In this case, wrap the gift card as above, but have students write their individual notes inside folded pieces of paper. Punch a hole in the corner of each note, lace raffia through it and individually attach each note to its own apple. Place all the apples in a bowl, putting the apple with the gift card right in the center.

Of course, you can apply the same unique wrapping philosophy to any gift card theme. So whether it’s a retail or dining card, go ahead and put your own unique spin on how to package it creatively. The way the gift card is presented is what makes it a “best-in-class” gift for the teacher.
